New Quicksilver Input/Output

Quicksilver XML Input/OutPSI is excited to start work this month on designing and implementing a new input/output format for all Quicksilver software products.

Islander will recieve a facelift in its export file from a simple comma delimited file to an extensible, human-readable, and expansive XML format. The new output from Islander will include data points that can be used for creating negative space for auto-web routines in third-party engineering software. If the model includes attic space or mechanical rooms, Islander now exports their boundary coordinates and justification.

Detour, PSI's comprehensive fabrication and automation software, is also recieving a facelift on the input side. In addition to reading in MSSQL data, and DWG and DXF information, Detour will soon be able to input data from a new XML file. With the new data format, Detour will have the ability to automatically place the optimal gusset plates at component intersections. The maximum axial force for each panel is also included in the new input which will enable automatic look-up for splice members and fastener patterns.

The new input/output for Quicksilver software products is scheduled to be released mid-February, 2010.
